🥩 Chapter 3: Beef

Korean Ground Beef and Rice

“Sweet, savory, slightly spicy. No marinating needed — ground beef delivers Korean BBQ flavors instantly.”

1Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 90/10)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
⅓ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
3 green onions, thinly sliced
Sesame seeds for garnish

2Instructions

1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through (5–7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.

2

Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef. Cook 1 minute until fragrant.

3

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.

4

Pour the sauce over the cooked beef.

5

Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and glazes the beef.

6

Stir in half of the sliced green onions. Remove from heat, garnish with remaining green onions and sesame seeds, and serve over rice.

Pro Tip

Buy pre-cooked microwaveable rice pouches to keep this meal strictly under the 20-minute mark with zero extra pots.
